FoldInputGate

Open source

Pre-flight checks for AlphaFold job metadata before a run is accepted. Across 20,000 synthetic submissions it rejected 5,248 of 5,248 faulty jobs and 0 of 14,752 correct ones, and blocked 983 carrying a raw sequence.

What it checks

  • Every required field present, and the digest actually a SHA-256
  • Molecule type and stated purpose inside the declared supported set
  • A raw sequence in the payload is blocked, not flagged, so it never leaves the boundary in a job submission
  • Rejection happens before the pipeline is called, not after it returns
  • Same jobs and seed reproduce the same verdicts on any machine

What it does not check

  • It checks the request, not the prediction that comes back. Accepting a well-formed job says nothing about whether the structure is right.
  • It does not run AlphaFold, read a sequence, or establish biological correctness.
  • What each prevented run would have cost is not measured and is not claimed. That depends on sequence length, MSA search and hardware.
  • The population is synthetic. The mix of faults in a real lab decides how much of this matters there.
Evidence

Every verdict leaves a record

PropertyBehaviour
DeterminismThe same input produces the same verdict. A result that does not reproduce is treated as a defect.
SigningVerdicts are Ed25519 signed and anchored in a tamper-evident chain.
ReplayA sealed pack can be re-run later to detect verification drift.
AvailabilityFail-closed. If this gate cannot be reached, the result is recorded as unavailable, never as a pass.
IndependenceA third party can verify a pack without our source code and without contacting us.
